Shop at a participating Northern California Whole Foods Market on Community Giving Day next Wednesday, June 9, and 5% of net sales benefit Marin Organic and the Organic School Lunch and Gleaning Program!
The Marin Organic School Lunch and Gleaning Program serves as a replicable model for other counties and school districts throughout the United States. This award-winning initiative donates "gleaned" foods - surplus produce that would otherwise be left in the field - from its producer members to schools and community centers, enabling 10,000 children and underserved residents to choose organic local food options, every week. To date, more than 140,000 pounds of free certified organic produce, meat, eggs and yogurt have been distributed through this innovative program.
